Limousine

Weekends are the best. For many of us it’s a relief when the weekend finally arrives. After a busy and hardworking week, it’s now time to kick back and relax, to catch up on sleep, reading a good book or watching some movies. Some like to get out and about for exercise, hit the gym or have a shindig with a group of friends. It’s customary too, for those who believe in the motto work hard play hard, to escalate entertainment levels at the weekend by hitting the town, going to a favourite restaurant or a tapa bar for drinks and dinner – a great way to relax and catch up with old friends. Venturing out in the comfort, safety, and style of your own exclusive Vancouver Limousine is a fantastic way to make the weekend all that much better. When finding your limousine of choice, it is well worth getting educated on what is available.

The term limousine is used to cover a wide range of luxury vehicles which have been stretched by a manufacturer or independent coach builder. Generally they are defined as “large, luxurious, automobiles, especially one driven by a chauffeur who is separated from the passengers by a partition”. The first automobile limousine was built in 1902. The first stretched vehicle was built in 1928 and was meant for transporting big band leaders and their equipment, hence the early nickname “Big Band Bus”. Unlike rental vehicles, limousines are almost always chauffeured vehicles, driven by licensed professionals who have received mandatory training and certification.

Three well known coach builders are Executive, Tiffany and Krystal. The majority of Canadian limousine companies acquire their limousines from the United States. There is also a difference between the types of limousines found in the Canadian market and the United States market. Canada’s Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) allows limousine companies to import safe vehicles that come from reputable coach builders and meet specific size, weight and safety requirements. In the United states it’s far more common to find exotic limousines (i.e., stretch Ferrari and hummer limousines) in places like Las Vegas that have all kinds of different add-ons. As the years go by, the rules are changing and we are seeing more and more unique limousines in the market.

Companies like Phat Cat Limousine provide distinctive and unique vehicles. The vast majority of limousines found in our local market today were originally manufactured by Ford and its United States division the Lincoln Motor company or General Motors and its division Cadillac. These original sedan and Suvs are then purchased as stock and modified by coach builders, who sell them to governments, to large companies for their executives, and to limousine companies.

Cruising the streets of downtown Vancouver on a weekend night one will see Lincoln town car limousines, Lincoln Navigator Limousines, stretched Ford Excursion and Expedition limousines. From time to time one may also see the rarer Cadillac stretch limousine too. The most common colors for stretch limousines are white and black. Party buses are another kind of entertainment vehicle which are aimed towards larger groups of clients; they often seat twenty or more, say up to thirty-two. Seating capacity varies per limousine and is based on weight. Some SUV limousines for example will seat up to ten, others twelve, and others fourteen. Transportation companies will often work with corporate clients who want the chauffeur experience but do not require a limousine. In these cases, clients use sedans like a Lincoln Towncar sedan or a higher end option like the BMW 7series. Also popular are SUVs like Cadillac Escalades and Chevy Tahoe’s. Chauffeured Sedans and SUVs services provide a discreet, efficient and effective service for busy executives on the go. Vintage vehicles like Rolls Royce from the 1930’s (A Stylish Arrival) are another popular choice for weddings.

Limousines were once primarily used by individuals from wealthy backgrounds. However with a free and open market, we now see a diverse range of limousine companies providing high quality limousine service at affordable rates. They cover special occasions and are used for practical purposes like providing service for families to the airport or ferry terminal. The pricing for use of limousines can be as, or more affordable, than using multiple taxis, and offer a stylish and comfortable setting for larger sized groups to travel together.

A milestone is reached and Graduation is a time to celebrate, award yourself for all the hard work you have put in. It is also a time of new beginnings, a time of change and personal growth. For some it’s a happy time, as they are ready to take on the world, and look forward to a bright future. For others it’s a bittersweet and challenging time, as they move on from everything they know to a time of uncertainty. Uncertainty can be daunting. However, reserving a Vancouver limousine is definitely not a daunting experience! Booking a graduation limousine is a wonderful way to hit the town for a pre-organised event such as a dinner and dance ceremony at one of the city’s finest hotels.

When making your Vancouver graduation limousine reservation, it is always
advisable to consult with your parents or a trusted guardian who can
help you in the decision process and often act as your guarantor
providing credit card information on your behalf. Make sure that
companies provide you with a contract, and always review the contract
prior to finalizing your reservation. Reading and understanding the
policies is very important.  For example, all reputable limousine
companies have a zero tolerance policy on underage drinking in
limousines, and should a member of your party abuse this, you could lose
your entire reservation, which is almost always non-refundable on the
day. With that in mind, make sure to explain policies to members of your
party. Avoid companies that promise you the moon, as the saying “all that
glitters” is not gold may apply. Make sure that everyone in your party
understands the company’s rules, and agrees to follow them. Find out
what the companies deposit policy and payment methods are. Deposit
amounts vary. However most companies will not accept less than twenty
five percent and some require payment in full. Cash and credit card
payment are the most common payments methods. Graduation is generally a
very busy time for limousine companies so it is best to make your
arrangements well in advance.

The best limousine companies provide quality limousines with highly
trained drivers. The companies with poor standards may provide an
unpleasant experience with unclean vehicles and rude, untrained drivers.
Some companies will overbook and provide promises they cannot
meet. The best companies know that drivers make a difference and only
work with professionals who are certified, friendly, and courteous with
all of their clients. The best companies will provide you with clear and
open billing policies, with written contracts to back them up. They may
not offer you the cheapest rate. They will, however, accomplish
all-star customer service, get you home safe and sound, work hard to
make your experience enjoyable and will not overbook.

Most limousine companies have minimum hour requirements for Graduation celebrations.  However,
as a customer, it is wise to find out what is the minimum amount of
hours and the hourly rate, and how companies bill for delays and
damages. Graduation celebrations, unfortunately on occasion, can be a time of excess where
a friend may get ill on the way home. It is good to be aware that that kind of occurrence could
easily cost you a $300 detailing expense + additional billing for loss
of work. So it’s crucial to look after members of your party, to make
sure everyone is responsible while having a fun night to remember.

We find that grad reservations are generally made by grads themselves
with the help of parents. In some cases parents and teachers handle all
arrangements. The most common form of graduation reservation has a group
of friends traveling together, also popular is couples reservations
where grads travel with a date. Events are formal and informal in
nature. From posh Vancouver hotels, to family events at community
centers, we are happy to be of service at many unforgettable occasions.

We advise grads to consult with their friends and create a schedule for
the day. Choose a limousine that suits your party’s size and style
requirement. Be prepared to provide contact numbers for your party.
Generally the more the better. Most limousine companies will want at
least two different individuals per limousine whom they can contact via
cellphone + the direct contact information of the parent or guarantor.
Communication is vital as it allows company and client to work together
to ensure timely service is provided, and clients are picked up at set
and changing destinations. Another important thing to remember is that
members of your party take all clothing, phones, iPods ETC out with them
at the end of service. Every year grads lose items, and it can be time-
consuming, worrisome and inconvenient for individuals to get items back. In
some cases items are never found.

If you are looking for a specialty vehicle or have a specific size or
color requirement it is important to understand
that most companies work on a first come first serve basis. Reserving
your limousine by appointment is the best way to go. Making arrangements
months ahead of time, will guarantee you peace of mind. We hope you have
a safe and exceptional enjoyable and worry free grad experience.

For your special day, it is important to find a Vancouver limousine
service that provides you with the high quality transport you
deserve.  It doesn’t matter whether you have a small family event planned or a spectacular multi-day ceremony, the quality of service matters a great deal.

Some of the factors to take into consideration when choosing your
wedding limousine service include: the type of limousines you would
like to use for your event, the amount of passengers that will require
transportation, and the amount of time you require limousine service
for. Determining your itinerary for the day is another vital part of the process.

The standard form of limousine reservation is the booking
of a single limousine that will transport the bride and groom to and
from locations of their choosing. This type of reservation is especially
popular for small wedding sized groups and couples looking for
affordable transportation. Another common option is for the bride and
the groom to each have their own limousine which transports the bride,
bridesmaids, friends and family, while the groom travels with groomsmen,
friends and family. Naturally, at the end of the day, the bride and groom
will share a single limousine while they are whisked off to a resort or
hotel of their choosing. Standard limousine choices include the stretch
limousine (seating up to six passengers), Superstretch limousine
(seating up to eight or ten passengers), SUV limousine (seating up to
ten, twelve or fourteen passengers). Limousine Services vary in the type
of limousines they provide. Some will provide one or more options.
Superstretch limousines remain the most popular choice for weddings,
while SUV limousines are increasingly on demand for those who want to
travel with bride, groom bridesmaids, groomsmen, and parents all together.

Yet another kind of limousine reservation involves the use of a
specialty limousine such as a classic Rolls Royce or Bentley. This type
of higher end reservation can be made with limousine companies that own
specialty cars or work with trusted specialty car service
providers. Another worthwhile transportation option for larger sized
events includes the use of executive bus (often seating 20+) and van
(often seating up to 14) service to supplement limousine service. This
option is popular for planners who want to ensure all their guests get
safe transportation home or to a safe drop-off point where
their own designated drivers can take them home. When finding your
Vancouver wedding limousine service, look for a company that provides
high quality service, well maintained limousines and one that is willing to go
above and beyond to make your special day a memorable one.

Limousine companies provide a wide variety of services and have a
range of rates. This is an open market, so it’s important for customers
to do their research ahead of time and find a company that provides
flexible service and offers package options that work for them.
Generally, the larger the vehicle the higher the hourly rate. The
majority of limousine companies have a minimum hourly requirement for
events such as weddings. For some it starts at four consecutive hours,
for others six, and for others it may be an all-day requirement. These
companies often get booked out completely as there is only so much
availability, especially for key wedding months like May and August. On
demand wedding limousine companies are often booked out months ahead of
time, as most weddings take place on Saturdays and Sundays
when family and friends are available to travel into town. You will find
wedding limousine companies have more flexibility and availability
Monday-Thursday than on weekends. Making your reservation ahead of time
is always the best way to go.

For summer weddings we recommend reservations are made at least two to
three months in advance. Most companies will require a deposit. Deposit
percentages vary. However most companies request fifty percent deposits.

The itinerary for a wedding day varies widely. From experience we have
had the delight of providing limousine service at a diverse range of
weddings. From traditional events that include transportation from homes
to churches to banquet halls to hotels, to long distance service to
resorts such as Whistler, or drop-offs at Helipads and airports.
Photography sessions are often a big part of wedding days. With glowing
couples and family traveling to wonderful scenic locations such as Queen
Elizabeth Park, Stanley Park , Rocky Point Park, Westwood Plateau Golf
and Country Club, Vandusen Botanical Gardens and Cecil Green House. Some
couples handle the creation of the itinerary themselves; others get help
from their parents or trusted friends. Another common option especially
for larger sized weddings is the use of a professional wedding planner.
Wedding planners offer an excellent service, handling arrangements for
you and ensuring everything goes smoothly, while offering helpful tips
and insights. Every wedding is a unique event. Finding committed transportation
providers that appreciate this and work diligently from start to finish
will make your your day.

NHL Hockey is back in town starting January 19th 2013.  This will be a fast paced season for the Vancouver Canucks with a condensed forty eight game schedule to follow including twenty four home games. New Year

Happy New Year!

New Year’s Eve is a great time to gather with a group of close friends and family and celebrate the year that was and the year that is to come.  Whether you are you planning a special dinner at one of Vancouver hotspots, a night out at an exclusive black tie hotel gala, tapas and drinks at your favourite lounge, a boat cruise, a pub/club crawl, a visit to Robson Square or Science World to party the New Year in with thousands of others, you may want to consider reserving your own limousine transportation. Travel with your best friends in safety, style and comfort with your own exclusive Vancouver limousine.  Prefer a more relaxed, laid-back environment? Surprise your loved one with an unforgettable romantic night out.

Whatever form of transportation you choose to use, we remind you to remember to be safe and smart. Zero tolerance drinking and driving policy means just that – do not drink and drive and do not get in a vehicle with anyone who does.   Road blocks are abundant, penalties are hefty, and the results of drinking and driving accidents are often devastating and life altering. There is no excuse or reason to do it ever. There are many safe options to travel whether it is by bus, sky-train, taxi, a designated driver safe ride, or limousine.  With limousine service, planning/reserving your limousine ahead of time is the key to ensuring you get  best availability. Many companies will be booked out on the night itself.   We hope you have a wonderful New Years and wish you all the best in 2013.

We gain one hour; we lose one hour. The clocks spring forward in Spring and
fall back in the Fall. Time for a change.

It is now that the thoughts of holiday events are important as we near
Halloween and approach Christmas. And there’s Rememberance Day too on Sunday,
November 11, not to be forgotten. Lastly, we can think ahead, prepare to close
our year off with New Year’s Eve celebrations.

social events. We invite clients to pre-book their limousine service and travel
in safety and comfort and also in style. Office related parties are heavily in
demand during the months of November and December. In some cases they are
scheduled office functions and then there are others, more informal, often
planned by a group of friends who work together. In order to ensure
availability, we recommend you make arrangements well ahead of time. Be
prepared by checking with all concerned re the preferred date and budget.
Clients have a choice of being picked up and dropped off at one designtged
location or at individual home addresses.

In winter, taking in tours of Christmas lights and attending concerts remain
popular activities. It is customary to take in the festive lights’displays in
conjunction with a night out on the town, heading to favourite restaurants for
dinner or tapas and indulging in Vancouver’s vibrant night life. Also, Rogers
Arena is host to a wide variety of concerts. Upcoming November concerts are as
follows:

November 6     Wiz Khalifa

November 10    Metric

November 11    Neil Young and Crazy Horse

November 12    Leonard Cohen

November 17    Red Hot Chili Peppers

November 26    Bruce Springsteen

For those looking to end the year by “going out with a bang”, traveling by
limousine is always a wise decision.  Clients are advised to book a month in
advance if possible.  We encourage everyone to be responsible during the
festive season and ensure that they have safe transportation whether it is with
a designated driver, taxi or limousine service. As we all know so well,
drinking and driving should never be an option and snow tires are a must when
the roads get icy.

As you celebrate holiday events and special outings, we wish you and yours all
the very best in the months to come.  ”To a joyful present and a well
remembered past, best wishes for happy holidays and a magnificent New Year.”
